Why This Matters
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone -- a spouse, a neighbor out for a walk, a friend at a pool gathering. When it happens, every minute without a defibrillator meaningfully lowers the chances of survival. EMS response takes time to arrive; a nearby AED and a trained neighbor can act immediately.
That's the entire idea behind this program: put life-saving equipment close enough, in enough places, that Waters Edge residents are never far from help.
The Program
17 AEDs, Placed Around the Neighborhood
Devices will be installed in accessible, weatherproof cabinets at locations chosen for coverage across Waters Edge.
PulsePoint Alerting
Integrated with the PulsePoint app, which notifies trained volunteer responders nearby the moment a cardiac emergency is reported -- often before EMS arrives.
Free Training, Official Oversight
The Villages Public Safety Department oversees the program and provides Heartsaver / CPR-AED training to volunteers at no cost.
The Ask
We're asking each household for a one-time contribution of $100.00, intended to fund the program for its first five years -- covering the 17 AEDs, storage cabinets and installation, replacement batteries and pads, and ongoing maintenance.
